What's the deal with meme coins

@Cypress
They really do bring a lot of newcomers into the space! Sometimes they attract people who can’t afford to lose money.

True, I’m not supporting meme coins. It’s documented that Dogecoin started basically as a joke between friends. What happens with Doge, SafeMoon, or SHIB in the future is just speculation.

People get hurt in the crypto gamble, which is unfortunate. My perspective here is more about the potential upsides than a strong endorsement of meme coins.

@Cypress
Very well said, my friend!

Describing them as the fun and colorful entry to crypto is spot on.

I personally got deeply interested in crypto because of a colorful meme coin. While I’ve moved past the FOMO mindset that got me into it, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge thanks to helpful users like you and by observing the market. Now I’m long-term invested in a few of the top 5 coins and enjoy this wild ride with everyone here.

@Noelani
That’s awesome, welcome!

@Cypress
Loved the ‘gateway’ reference

@Cypress
Why does it seem like everyone prefers Trust Wallet? I’ve been using MetaMask for my DeFi activities. Trust Wallet seems like it adds an extra step, having to convert BNB to BSC, unlike MetaMask.

@Cypress
Meme coins really help emphasize buying high and selling low.

Unfortunately that’s true. Still, I can’t support them. It’s more like looking for the silver lining in difficult situations.

@Cypress
That’s fair enough. I see your point. I’ve been in the crypto space for a bit and the wild returns from these coins piqued my interest. That said, I never put my money into the meme coins and always research before investing.

@Cypress
True, I’m one of those who got hooked by Doge and ended up learning about real crypto.

Your thoughts on SafeMoon remind me of this

@Cypress
Totally agree. It kept me interested long enough to realize what was what and move on to more serious crypto.

@Cypress
This comment deserves more upvotes. Great explanation and support for newcomers!

@Cypress
I was getting ready to make a snarky comment saying None! Meme coins have no use but this post made me really think and I have to agree.

@Cypress
Dogecoin was my entry into crypto.

@Cypress
Doge got me started. Luckily I got in early and had the confidence to invest the profits from its unexpected rise into other legitimate coins.

I knew I was taking a gamble, and anyone who claims they’re not risking a lot is fooling themselves, but they’ve been a fun way to grasp the basics, provided you didn’t go all-in. When I took a risk on Shib, it fell through. But by that time, I had learned the ropes and made sure not to invest what I couldn’t afford to lose. Moreover, I exchanged my shibs for another meme coin that seems much more stable and has a fantastic community that’s enjoyable to be part of plus I get to assist medical science, which none of my ‘serious’ coins can offer.

@Cypress
I got involved with Doge when it first launched in 2013, mined it, then moved to BTC and ETH when they were new. Now I’m living off my crypto earnings.

@Cypress
I got into crypto during the hype in December 2017, and it was that downtrend that made me want to explore what Bitcoin and blockchain truly are; I fell further down the rabbit hole after that.
