Is mbtc a different type of money from bitcoin?

I got a new wallet called Electrum and added some money to it. But it’s showing the amount in ‘mbtc’ instead of ‘btc’. Do I need to change it to bitcoin?

No need to worry. mBTC stands for millibitcoin, which is just a smaller denomination of bitcoin. It’s like cents to dollars. Your money is still there, just displayed differently. You can keep using it without any issues.

Not really because Electrum uses mBTC (millibitcoin) as the default base unit.

mBTC stands for millibitcoin, which is one-thousandth of a Bitcoin (BTC). In other words, 1 mBTC = 0.001 BTC.

If your wallet balance is recorded in mBTC, it’s still Bitcoin but quantified differently. It’s essentially the same cryptocurrency, just represented in smaller units.

Therefore no need to worry because your Bitcoins are safe

It’s the same but almost no one uses that unit. It’s either BTC or sats.
