El Salvador's Bitcoin stash hits 531 million with 263 million in unrealized profit and the president says I told you so

@Conley
That would be a huge con in Latin American political history and there’s been some notable ones.

Gains represent only 0.00588% of their GDP…

Those IMF guys are really learning their lesson.

Totally.

Lol this guy waited for this moment. That vindication must feel amazing.

3 years? lol

He hit them with the I told you so during a bull market, similar to how everyone returns here to sort of rub it in our faces haha

Everyone talks trash when they are up.

Everyone’s a genius when the market is rising.

Yeah, he should have said that in a bear market, right?

500 million is nothing when you’re looking at an entire country. That’s like boasting about making 13 cents in bitcoin profits.

this forum is a total echo chamber every time El Salvador is mentioned.

That equals about 1.5% of their total GDP. It’s not nothing.

@RobertGarcia
If they’re not cashing out and doing something with it, then it’s literally nothing.

Check out the BTC vs SP500 chart since September 2021 when El Salvador started buying BTC. BTC’s annual growth was 10.31% compared to SP500’s 10.15%, very similar gains but SP500 was much safer.

Anyway, Bukele took a gamble with a small portion of his country’s money. This won’t be a big event compared to what will happen when MicroStrategy has to sell its coins.

I prefer when this forum is all optimistic, the I told you so phase is typically risky :stuck_out_tongue:

Gotta be cautious with the I told you so claims on such a volatile asset. Bitcoin has dropped from 60K to 20K before.

He’ll definitely have the last laugh. It’s great to see.

Lol even for a third-world country, 500 million is not much.

You don’t benefit until you sell.

I like his attitude.

“Unrealized” good luck turning that into cash.
