At the moment, the block reward is 6.25 BTC. It will be 0.19 BTC in 2040.

In present currency, the network’s worth would need to be 26.6k / 0.19 * 6.25 = $875k in order to provide the same protection as it has now ($2.5M in future dollars even assuming debasement doesn’t grow beyond the 80-year trend of 7% annualized). The hash rate has risen at a pace of about 60% annually during the previous five years, partly due to improvements in hashing efficiency and lower power costs.

Just something to consider.

The cumulative annual growth rate of Bitcoin has been 246% over the past 14 years, 71% over the past 10 years, and 33% over the past 5 years. It would be acceptable to continue to assume that this growth rate will decrease or stabilize over time.

In an attempt to project future values, we may calculate that, at the present price, bitcoin will increase by 24% year over the next 17 years, or $1 million per coin. That would be $500,000. Half of that. Given that inflation would also need to be taken into account, would it be sufficient to retire on in 2040? It won’t likely be sufficient.

Investing in cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, is extremely risky and uncertain. There is always a chance that your investment could lose value, and past performance does not guarantee future outcomes. Before making any investing decisions, it’s crucial to do extensive research and take your financial objectives and risk tolerance into account. At $22,000 per BTC, 0.5 BTC is currently worth about $11,000. A large increase in Bitcoin’s value may make 0.5 a great retirement fund.
